Every line the FortiGate sends is written as it arrived. The collector runs a two-hundred-thousand record queue; under a burst it queues rather than drops, and if free disk falls below your threshold it stops writing and raises an alert. Records never disappear quietly.

Each day’s archive is digested with SHA-256, signed, and chained to the previous day’s digest. Change a single historic line and every link after it fails. You can also point it at an RFC 3161 timestamp server so each seal is dated by an outside authority.

Search by date, IP, user, domain, attack signature or policy number. Download the record you find as CSV together with its seal and verification digest, and attach it to your official response.

A seal is mathematics, not a claim

At the close of each day a SHA-256 digest is taken of every record in it and signed together with the previous day’s digest. Anyone holding the last link of the chain can verify on their own that no past line has changed.

You can write the digest at the head of the chain into an audit, an expert report or an internal record: cae0142f86129e688e7c6ce3b85d2a90f0a765e8. Touch the past after that date and verification fails. Define a timestamp server and every seal is additionally dated by an independent authority.
